What Is A Week In The Life Of A College Student Like?
First of all, it’s not like high school – your daily schedule is not going to be the same every day, day after day – although we can help you find a rhythm that works well for you.
Mansfield Hall students are all going to college, so the first thing that goes onto your schedule are your classes. Our students typically start out with 3 classes in the fall term, and are welcome to add classes in subsequent terms if they feel like they can handle the course load.
In addition to your college classes, which you will select from the college’s course catalog and will be taking at one of the local schools, we also help schedule in study time, some time with Academic Coaches, time with your Academic Director (for one-on-one planning meetings). This is all to help you plan for academic success as a college student.
You will also have some other 1-1 meetings throughout the week, including time with your Director of Student Life, your Life Skills Coach, and possibly even a meeting with the Community Outreach Director, who will be helping you choose your own path for community service and connecting with the larger community.
There are also some things going on at The Hall, like a Social Learning Seminar, culinary instruction, apartment and all-community meetings, and meals. Don’t forget the meals!
Each of our Halls includes a Chef, and all meals are included. You will also have access to your own kitchen and food, so you can join us, cook for yourself, go out to dinner with friends – all in the same day. Or just enjoy the amazing food our chefs provide daily.

Even More College Than College
Classes, studying, and eating are all pretty important, but there is a lot more to college, and Mansfield Hall, than just working on homework and eating amazing food.
Life at The Hall also means being a part of a vibrant, active, engaged living and learning community. There is always something cool going on at The Hall – whether that’s a D&D Campaign, an open mic night, an arts workshop, a Writer’s Club, a movie night, attending an on-campus lecture or sporting event, a hike with friends, a thrifting trip, or…. whatever you are interested in adding to the list!
Our students are actively engaged in a variety of afternoon, evening, and weekend pursuits and the challenge is not finding something to do – it is picking which of the amazing options you can fit into your busy schedule.
In addition to life at The Hall our students are also actively engaged on their college campus. Whether matriculated or non-matriculated, students have full access to campus clubs, organizations, and activities. Our students often build strong friendships with college students not associated with The Hall, and so you effectively have three concentric social circles – The Hall, The College, and The College Town. Of all the things available, “Being Bored” just is not one of them!
With everything going on one of the challenges is finding the right balance between school work, social time, pursuing your own interests, relaxing, and down time. In fact, helping students learn how to balance all of these options is exactly what we are here to do, since self monitoring and self management are among the skills Mansfield Hall students are gaining as a part of life at The Hall.
Are you ready to learn more about how Mansfield Hall can augment and amplify your college experience? Let’s start the conversation today – reach out to our Admissions Team to learn more about how Mansfield Hall can help put even more college (and college success) into your college experience.
Mansfield Hall: Even More College Than College
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
MANSFIELD HALL BELIEVES
Feeling overwhelmed in college- but not sure why? you’re not alone.
The key isn’t just “pushing through”, it’s learning to recognize what’s happening before you hit that wall, and having systems to reset.
That might look like:
• stepping outside for a walk
• box breathing between classes
• putting on a guided meditation
• reaching out to someone you trust
Small supports = big difference over time.
At Mansfield Hall, we help students build the awareness and tools to regulate, recharge, and navigate college in a way that actually works for them.
What’s one thing that helps you reset when you’re overwhelmed?

Excellent week across the board!
People Ops team member Jo touched down in Madison, receiving a warm welcome with coffee and a trip to see the Capitol building. VP of Program Ops Hayley grounded herself and took in the beauty of the Statehouse. Pancakes were served, and Burlington student Nikhil took the stage to perform with his choir.
A great week to zoom out and back in- and reflect on all the things we have to be grateful for!

College can be energizing… and draining.
If you’ve ever felt socially exhausted, you’re not alone.
Understanding your limits (and what helps you recharge) can make all the difference.

Hangin` in there until spring weather kicks in!
This week at Mansfield Hall our Eugene, OR students did some rock climbing, Burlington, VT connections students took an outing to the bowling alley/arcade, while others took a trip to a local sugar house to learn about all things maple syrup. Students in Madison, WI continued their endeavors to learn about all things maintenance...and they make it look fun!
Happy Friday Friends- enjoy the weekend.
Mansfield Hall had the joy of hosting some professionals at our Madison, WI location recently, which included a student panel.
One of the questions asked was: What do you like about Mansfield Hall?
The answer: how inclusive it is.
No one gets to choose the brain they have, but we do get to choose the world we create. We choose to accept, celebrate, and work toward a world that’s more inclusive of every brain and the incredible things they can do.
Happy World Autism Awareness Day. We see you, and we celebrate you for all that you are and all that you can be!

Sensory overload happens when your brain receives more sensory input than it can comfortably process.
Our nervous systems are constantly taking in information, but when there’s too much coming in (or it’s coming too fast) our systems can become overwhelmed.
We get it, and it can be managed with small, intentional supports like reducing input, creating predictable routines, and building in quiet recovery time.
