Living

At Mansfield Hall- Madison, we help students to develop independent living skills. Our students with learning disabilities such as ADHDAsperger’s and ASD live in high-quality apartments “all under one roof” in the center of Madison. In this environment, our highly qualified staff are able to work closely with the students to develop and strengthen their independent living skills. From cooking classes to laundry instruction, we make sure all our students are learning the skills they will need to gain a greater level of independence. Knowing that no two students are alike, we make sure to individualize our programming and support to meet each student’s specific needs. As students gain a greater level of independence, we are able to transition students to nearby apartments.

Learning – Explore our local colleges

Madison offers a wide array of amazing colleges and universities to choose from, such as the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Edgewood College, Madison College (aka Madison Area Technical College), and Herzing University. Having access to a variety of colleges in the community allows our students to find courses, majors, and degrees in their specific area of interest. Students may attend one, or a combination of, colleges throughout their time with Mansfield Hall; and many of these colleges offer guaranteed transfer programs, allowing our student to attend and graduate from UW-Madison (recently named the 25th best university in the world by Business Insider).

Not enrolled in college yet? Not a problem! Our staff can help find the right fit to achieve each student’s education goals. For students who join us mid-semester, there are also numerous online courses and local professional development courses perfect for easing a student into college study. While enrolled in any of these wonderful colleges and universities, our academic experts at Mansfield Hall work closely with the students and the colleges to make sure appropriate accommodations are offered and individualized academic and executive functioning support is provided. Our goal is to help each student become an independent learner and obtain the degree of their choice.

Giving

Madison, Wisconsin has a long tradition of community service and giving back. This is reflected in UW-Madison recently being named the #1 Peace Corps College in the nation. There are numerous organizations and agencies dedicated to helping the community through various social, civic, and environmental causes. Students have the opportunity to explore and contribute to agencies such as the Goodman Center, UW Health Center, Heartland Farm Sanctuary, the Dane County Humane Society and many more. While giving back to the community is important in and of itself, we also value the important role volunteering plays in providing vocational skill development and perspective taking opportunities for our students.

Engaging

While Wisconsin’s nickname may be “America’s Dairyland”, it boasts some of the most diverse terrain and amazing recreational opportunities in the country. We work to engage our students in their specific areas of interest. Whether this is sailing or stand up paddling on Lake Mendota, biking on one of the many beautiful nearby trails, visiting the local skate park, or hiking and rock climbing at nearby Devils Lake State Park, we are confident each student will find a way to be fully engaged. Additionally, given the vast number of local colleges just steps away, there are endless on- and off-campus opportunities, such as  UW – Madison Hoofers, Madison Mallard minor league baseball, concerts and events at the Kohl Center and the Orpheum Theater, the countries largest and best Farmers Market, and of course, the finest college sports the Big Ten has to offer (We’re a little biased). Endless opportunities to get active and involved with new found college friends.
