Learning- Explore Our Local Colleges
Burlington is host to some of the finest colleges in New England, including the University of Vermont (UVM), St. Michael’s College, Champlain College, and the Community College of Vermont. Having access to a variety of colleges in the community allows our students to find courses, majors, and degrees in a wide range of interests. Students may attend just one school, or even choose a combination of colleges throughout their time with Mansfield Hall. Each of the colleges we work with offers student the opportunity to begin their coursework as a non-matriculated student, so even if a student does not formally apply to one of the colleges they can still make the Mansfield Hall decision and start out taking real college courses, for credit, right from the start.
Mansfield Hall-Burlington helps students with learning disabilities such as ADHD, Asperger’s and ASD develop independent living skills in our integrated, high-quality residence. Our centralized service delivery model includes student housing, study spaces, a student cafe, staff offices, and hang-out spaces all under one room, around the kitchen table, and in the context of an active and supportive living and learning community. We are steps away from our local colleges, and situated in the heart of Burlington’s undergraduate housing district, right next to our thriving downtown. Students live in well-appointed apartments with peers in a safe, secure, and supportive setting.
Burlington, Vermont is a neighborly and responsive community that always looks out for one another. Thus, there are numerous organizations and agencies dedicated to helping the community, through various social, civic, and environmental causes. Students have the opportunity to explore and contribute to agencies such as, King Street Center, Green Mountain Club, COTS, Waterwheel Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, ECHO Aquarium, and many more.
Given the bountiful array of recreational opportunities in Vermont, we work to link students’ interests with the available activities. Whether this is sailing on Lake Champlain, skiing or riding at one of the many nearby world-class ski resorts, visiting the local skate park, or hiking to the top of Mount Mansfield, we are confident each student will find a way to be fully engaged. Additionally, given the vast number of local colleges just steps away, there are endless on- and off-campus opportunities, such as UVM Sports, Vermont Lake Monsters minor league baseball, concerts and events at the Flynn Center and Higher Ground, and the list goes on.
Located in historic Burlington, in the center of the undergraduate housing district, and in close proximity to downtown and many college campuses, Mansfield Hall provides students the perfect home base from which to launch their college career. Included in The Hall is student housing in well-appointed apartments, meals in our student cafe, study and social spaces, and the building also includes our staff offices and community spaces. This centralized service delivery model is core to our residential offering, and helps us build a positive and supportive community where students can thrive.
