Barbara holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas A&M Kingsville and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French from the University of Oregon. Barbara’s early experience included teaching English in France then returning to the US to direct an Intensive English Program for International students wishing to seek degrees from American universities. From here she continued her work in post-secondary education and held a number of roles all centered around supporting students who were facing barriers to educational opportunities.

For the last several years she served as a program director at the Pearl Buck Center in Eugene, Oregon, serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The programs she built and oversaw all centered around supporting people to build life skills, pursue vocational education, and seek employment opportunities. Helping people identify their passions in pursuit of meaningful work was a labor of love she found deeply gratifying.

Barbara lives in Eugene, Oregon, and has two daughters who are both attending the University of Oregon – one is attending law school and the other is pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy. She is also the proud owner
of a pug.
