The Mansfield Hall Reader
The Mansfield Hall Reader: Essays on Becoming and Belonging, Volume I, brings together more than a decade of previously published writing from Mansfield Hall.
Drawn from hundreds of essays, newsletters, and other writings produced since Mansfield Hall’s founding in 2013, this book explores the questions that arise when young adulthood, neurodivergence, education, relationships, and community meet in the real world.
Through essays on college readiness, executive functioning, friendship, healthy interdependence, coaching, belonging, family relationships, technology, and the complicated work of becoming an adult, The Mansfield Hall Reader offers a window into the ideas and practices that have shaped and guided Mansfield Hall’s approach
Elevate
Elevate: 16 Boarding Schools and the Practice of Holistic Education, by Mansfield Hall’s Chief Strategy Officer Jake Weld and co-author Jeremy McGeorge, explores what happens when education is understood as more than academics alone.
Drawing on the experiences of schools and educators committed to whole-person development, Elevate examines the role of relationships, community, belonging, challenge, purpose, and shared experience in helping young people grow.
The book looks closely at the environments in which development actually happens: places where young people are known well, expected to participate, given meaningful responsibility, allowed to struggle productively, and supported by adults who understand that growth is rarely linear.
While focused on boarding schools, Elevate asks questions that extend well beyond them. What makes a community genuinely developmental? What conditions help young people become more capable, connected, confident, and self-directed? And how do educational communities move beyond simply delivering instruction toward creating the conditions in which people can truly grow?
At its core, Elevate is an argument that education is not simply about what students know. It is also about who they are becoming, how they learn to live alongside others, and what it takes for the communities around them to be intentionally designed to help that development occur.
