Giving
Every Mansfield Hall student deserves the right to see and know themselves as someone with something valuable to offer the world, and Community Service provides the opportunity to give back, to actively engage with our broader community, build critical skills, and provide service to others.
With the support of our Community Outreach Director, students explore various volunteer opportunities through group service-learning experiences throughout their first semester. After their first semester, students are encouraged to identify and pursue a regular volunteer position.
For many of our students, being actively engaged in “giving back” provides the most realistic and direct way to experience and see the world from a perspective outside of their own – a skill that many of our students find beneficial.
We also believe that gaining meaningful vocational experience starts with participation at the volunteer level. We have community resources and volunteer opportunities available to further this goal. Giving is a fundamental aspect of the Mansfield Hall curriculum and is emphasized throughout the year.

There’s some fascinating research coming out surrounding the possible links between neurodivergence, hyper mobility, and regulation right now.
The overall conversation is surrounding the idea that neurodivergent folks are 4 times more likely to have generalized hypermoblity- a connective tissue disorder where the ligaments in the body are looser and thusly have to effort extra hard to hold everything in the body together. This additional effort the body has to exert daily to keep everything in order may be linked to a host of things, all pointing to the idea that these folks systems are working overtime to keep regulated.
Exercise, especially strength training can help ease this strain on the body by strengthening the muscles around the ligaments, which can help ease the job of those ligaments with consistent training over time.
Mansfield Hall offers students the opportunity to join in for two structured workouts a week focused on upper and lower body as well as core stability for this reason!
