Frequently Asked Questions

Lissy Parrish

LIFE SKILLS COACH, BURLINGTON

Always having had a desire to support everyone’s full participation in the community, Lissy spent their early teen years volunteering with children and adults with developmental disabilities. This work eventually led them to become a job and residential coach for adults on the autism spectrum. Though they pursued many careers over the last several years, their heart has always been in working with people and building community. For eight years, they found this working at Sweet Clover Market in Essex, a community that will always be very dear to them. During this time they worked to receive their degree in Human Services at the Community College of Vermont. After learning about Mansfield Hall from their friend, Heather Belcher, they knew this was where they wanted to be.

Lissy finds joy playing guitar, hanging out with their cats, visiting with family in New Jersey, spending time in the forest with friends, and traveling.

Mansfield Hall had the joy of hosting some professionals at our Madison, WI location recently, which included a student panel.

One of the questions asked was: What do you like about Mansfield Hall?

The answer: how inclusive it is.

No one gets to choose the brain they have, but we do get to choose the world we create. We choose to accept, celebrate, and work toward a world that’s more inclusive of every brain and the incredible things they can do.

Happy World Autism Awareness Day. We see you, and we celebrate you for all that you are and all that you can be!
