Frequently Asked Questions

Nora Elam, B.A.

OUTREACH & ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR

Nora was raised in Eugene and after graduating high school took a non-traditional path by
traveling abroad for over two years. She visited many different developing countries around the
world where she spent her time volunteering at various non-profits and grassroots organizations
that focused on social and environmentally sustainable practices within marginalized communities.
She then completed her B.A. at Portland State University in International Studies and a minor in
Communications. After spending the last two years working in youth development and program
coordination in Alaska, Nora moved home to Eugene to give back to the community that helped
shape her. Nora is very passionate about creating sustainable and mutually beneficial connections
both locally and abroad. She believes in the power of community connection and is motivated to
empower individuals to see the endless potential that we all have inside us.

Her experiences as a neurodivergent learner and her commitment to social equity have shaped her approach to student support. After three years in Mansfield Hall’s Student Life Department—most recently as Director of Student Life in Eugene—she now brings a trauma-informed, culturally responsive lens to her role in Admissions and Outreach. Nora is passionate about collaborative communication, individualized support, and helping students thrive in ways that honor their unique identities and strengths.

Congrats to our two new Mansfield Hall Burlington student ambassadors!

Each year first year students apply and interview to become ambassadors. These students are leaders within the community, responsible for creating experiences through program development, and serve a spokespeople for the broader student community.

When asked what they were most looking forward to, this is what they had to say:

"I'm excited to help with the community meetings and activities" - Alex

"I'm most excited to be a bigger part of the community and connect better- and maybe plan more skiing trips this winter!" - John
We're so lucky to have an incredible team of staff across our three locations, and we want to highlight them!

Starting with Naomi, one of our Madison based Academic Directors.
