Mansfield Hall

Eugene

A verdant valley, tucked along the folds of the Willamette River between the snow-capped Cascades and the lush Coastal Range, Eugene provides something for everyone.  An active college town, Eugene benefits from a robust college culture, great local food, a happening music and arts scene, and a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere. If sports is your scene then watching UO teams, always clad in the hometown favorite, Nike, can be a great attraction.

With over 500 tree varieties growing in the immediate vicinity, Eugene is known as the Emerald City, and has long been known for its progressive environmental policies (Eugene banned plastic bags in 2013). With such great schools and so much to do, it is no wonder Eugene, OR, ranks as Sunset Magazine’s #5 top town in the west.

Learning-
Explore Our Local Colleges

Eugene offers amazing colleges and universities to choose from, including the University of Oregon, Bushnell University, and Lane Community College.

Having access to a variety of colleges in the community allows our students to find courses, majors, and degrees in their specific area of interest. Students may attend one, or a combination of, colleges throughout their time with Mansfield Hall. All of the colleges in Eugene offer access to course enrollment as a non-matriculated student. This means that students do not need to formally apply to, or be accepted into, any local college in order to start out taking real college classes, for real college credit. Our staff can help find the right fit to achieve each student’s education goals.

While enrolled in any of these wonderful colleges and universities, our academic experts at Mansfield Hall work closely with the students and the colleges to make sure appropriate accommodations are offered and individualized academic and executive functioning support is provided. Our goal is to help each of our students become an independent learner and obtain the degree of their choice.

Living

At Mansfield Hall-Eugene, we help students master the applied independent living skills that are required for making a successful transition into college life. Our students live in high-quality apartments in the center of Eugene. In this environment our highly qualified staff are able to work closely with the students to foster a sense of community. From group cooking classes to individualized support, we make sure all our students are learning the skills they will need to gain a greater level of independence. Knowing that no two students are alike, we individualize our programming and support to meet each student’s specific needs. As students gain a greater level of independence they are able to transition students to nearby apartments.

Giving

There are numerous organizations and agencies dedicated to helping the community through various social, civic, and volunteer causes.  A long-time center for progressive, social-justice, LGBTQ+, and environmental causes, Eugene provides students with hundreds of volunteer opportunities, events, and activities. While giving back to the community is important in and of itself, we also value the important role volunteering plays in providing vocational skill development and perspective taking opportunities for our students.

Engaging

From world-class skiing and snowboarding to the east and the coast, dunes, and beaches to the west, and with plenty of rivers, streams, farms and fields – and an amazing city – in between, there is never a shortage of engaging activities in and around Eugene, OR. We work to engage our students in their specific areas of interest. Whether it is sailing or stand up paddling on Fern Lake, biking on one of the many beautiful nearby trails, visiting the local skate park, or hiking and rock climbing at nearby Skinner Butte Park, we are confident each student will find a way to be fully engaged. It could be the, or UO-Duck-mania in Autzen Stadium, or even a Bitforest (the local game designer meetup) gathering at a local coffee shop – it does not matter what you are interested in, there is always something to do in Eugene, and we hope you will come explore exciting Eugene for yourself!

Many of our students come from the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle. This common connection makes it easier for students to bond over shared interests and past experiences, as they settle into living in a new environment.
